One day my Canon EF-S 18-55 mm IS autofocus(AF) was not working properly.
It can focus inward but cannot focus outwards..
I decide to open the lens to look at what was wrong with the lens.
1st look,i found out that the AF ribbon cable was ripped.Afraid of loosing my one and only 18mm wide angle lens, i close back the lens..
it took me some time before i really operate the lens..
heres some pic of whats inside of the Canon EF-S 18-55 mm IS.
After removing 4 screws, detaching 5 ribbon cable & putting away the circuit board
The AF motor without its cover
heres the problem.. ripped/separated/torn apart AF ribbon cable
till today, my 18-55 lens is still works but with a 1 way AF..
